Q. What is dual enrollment?
Dual enrollment is an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to take college courses that may satisfy high school graduation and college credit requirements. (Students are encouraged to check with your school counselor to determine if credits will count towards high school graduation requirements.)

Q. How much does it cost?
Dual enrollment tuition fees are discounted. Students pay $100/credit.
School of Graduate and Professional Studies: Online courses through the School of Graduate and Professional Studies are primarily 3-credits with sub-sessions/sub-terms (5 week accelerated and 16 weeks in length).
All other schools within the college offer a variety of course modalities with a primary focus on face-to-face in-classroom learning. There are limited opportunities for blended/hybrid or online. The majority of courses carry 4-credits spanning the full 16-week semester.Ìý

Q. How do I order my textbooks for class?
The College Store has partnered with several wholesalers for sourcing textbooks.Ìý ÌýTextbooks can be ordered online at Ìý
Students are encouraged to use the links below to learn more about textbook ordering process.Ìý ÌýStudent ID is always required for identification purposes.Ìý
Q. Who should I contact if I need additional support with the course material?
Students enrolled in courses through the School of Graduate and Professional Studies should contact them directly to discuss opportunities through an online tutoring service dedicated to online learners.Ìý
Students enrolled in courses through residential schools should contact the Center for Student Success. ÌýThey are committed to promoting the growth and well-being of our ½ûÂþÌìÌà Students.Ìý They provide services associate with Academic Advising; the Learning Zone, a Writing Wing, Disability Services, and various forms and resources.Ìý ÌýPeer course tutors and Peer writing tutors are available by appointment.
Q. Am I eligible to apply for dual enrollment?
Dual enrollment is open to all high-achieving high school juniors and seniors. Our program provides opportunities for students from private, public, charter, home and cyber schools.

Q. May I take a summer course as a dual enrolled student?
Yes.Ìý But below are some guidelines you need to consider:
- Do you meet the edibility requirements outlined on the Admissions Application?
- Do you have permission from your high school counselor to register for summer courses under dual enrollment? Your high school governs academic policies surrounding summer dual-enrollment credits counting toward high school graduation requirements.
- Do you anticipate graduating this spring/summer? You are welcome to take a summer course, however, standard tuition and fees apply. After graduation, you are no longer qualified for dual enrollment and reduced tuition rates.

Q. Who should I contact if I need a course registration change?
Students can drop their course registration in accordance with the Academic Calendar and associated Important Dates using JayWeb.Ìý
Students may also DROP or WITHDRAW from a course based on catalog policy and Important Date timelines.

Q. Am I required to take a Modern Language or Math Placement Examination?
Language Placement
Students requesting to enroll in a foreign language may be required to take an online placement examination.Ìý ÌýMore information regarding those requirements are outlined on the Modern Language Department Placement Examination webpage.Ìý ÌýAny questions relating to the placement exam should be directed to the Dean of Arts and Humanities, Dr. Kevin Shorner-Johnson (shornerk@etown.edu)Ìý
Mathematics Placement
Students requesting to register for Calculus are not required to complete the ALEKS® Math Placement Assessment.Ìý Students may be auto-placed into Calculus based on, high school math history, dual-enrollment transfer credit, student performance with standardized testing (SAT, ACT), and student experience with Credit through Examination (ie. AP, CLEP, IB, etc.).Ìý As a high school student you may be requires to provide one or more of the latter requirements for enrollment into Calculus.Ìý ÌýThis will be coordinated between your high school guidance counselor and our Admissions Office.Ìý ÌýFor more information on scores required for auto placement using SAT and AP scores, please visit the Math Placement Policy .Ìý
Q. How do accelerated classes work?
Most undergraduate accelerated courses meet for five weeks and are offered online.Ìý A significant amount of self-directed learning outside the classroom is expected (average time is 15-20 hours per credit).
Q. May I audit a course under dual enrollment?
No. Dual enrolled students are not permitted to audit.
Q. Is dual enrollment a good opportunity for me?
Dual Enrollment Benefits
- Enrolling in college courses provides high school students with the ability to enhance and/or explore academic interests in preparation for post-secondary studies.
- Students may accumulate college credits at a significantly reduced cost and strengthen the opportunity to reduce post-secondary education timelines.
- Students can supplement educational knowledge achieved through Challenge Examination Programs like Advanced Placement (AP), College-level Examination Program (CLEP), and International Baccalaureate (IB).
- Students participating in dual programs engage with degree-seeking students in the classroom or in the comfort of their home though online.Ìý
Q. Are there any hidden fees associated with a course registration?
Some courses do have associated fees for materials required as part of the course instruction.Ìý ÌýAny fees associated with the course are outlined on the course listing.Ìý Simply click on the course code to open a secondary window to display a course description, course credit, modality, and any additional course fees.
Q. What is the difference between AP, college in the high school, and dual enrollment?
Advanced Placement (AP) courses prepare students by experiencing college-level coursework taught through high school instruction. College in the High School programs are taught by the high school instructor, or college facilitator, in a high school classroom and registrants are restricted to only high school students. The earned credits are transcribed by the college/university as part of the educational agreement. Dual-enrollment programming engages students in courses where student participate alongside other degree-seeking college students.
Q. How do I view my schedule, unofficial transcript, or grade report?
All enrolled students are given access to our campus web system (JayWeb) and a personal@etown.edu account for easy access to scheduling, finances, unofficial transcripts, and grade reports.Ìý For more information, please review our JayWeb Instructions for ½ûÂþÌìÌÃing and High School Students located on our forms page under JayWeb documents.Ìý
Q. What are course pre-requisites/co-requisites?
Course prerequisites and corequisites are defined as part of the course description. If a course request requires approval for waiver of either requirement, the Office of Registration and Records with negotiate enrollment with the School Dean, our Admissions Office Coordinator, and your high school guidance counselor.
Q. How may I order a copy of my official transcript?
Students must submit an official transcript request to the Office of Registration and Records to receive a copy of their official transcript. Under dual enrollment policies, grade reports are submitted to your high school counselor's office at the close of each semester. Students wishing to send a transcript for prior learning under dual enrollment for their college admissions application, should follow the instructions for ordering transcripts . Transcripts can be mailed through USPS or sent electronically when students submit their request through the National Student Clearinghouse.
Q. Does acceptance into the Elizabethtown Dual Enrollment Program guarantee my acceptance as a degree-seeking student?
No, you must apply separately for admission into a four-year degreed program with ½ûÂþÌìÌà through our Admissions Office. By participating in courses as a dual-enrolled student will certainly support demonstrate your academic achievements as a high school student.
