Engineering Transfer Students
Our Admissions staff and Engineering faculty are here to help you make the transition from one college to the next as smooth as possible and take time to understand your unique situation. We can't wait to hear your story and help you find your place in our community.
Am I Eligible To Transfer?
There are no specific course requirements to transfer to the Engineering program. A minimum of a 2.5 GPA is preferred when transferring to the college. Applicants with a GPA of 2.0-2.49 will be reviewed for admission on a case-by-case basis.
With our General Engineering degree, many transfer students who have already taken Calculus I, II and III along with calculus-based Physics I and II may be able to finish their degree in 2-3 years with any of our concentrations (electrical, mechanical, biomedical, civil, environmental, or industrial and systems). For students who have not yet taken Calculus or calculus-based Physics, an engineering degree at Elizabethtown will likely take 4 years. See the for a list of degree requirements.
For HACC students completing the A.S. degree in Engineering, transferring to Elizabethtown to finish your B.S. degree should be a smooth process requiring only 2 additional years, due to our Dual Admission program. HACC students are also eligible to take two Elizabethtown engineering courses with tuition waived, which can further accelerate your degree. Please discuss these options with your advisor at HACC in consultation with Elizabethtown Admissions and Engineering faculty.

Transfer student finds ‘next logical step’ at ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ
Attracted by College’s personalized research opportunities
After a year in management information systems at Montgomery County Community College, Daniel Buttorff was seeing the value in continuing his education. He took prerequisites courses in his second year and began applying to public, private, research-centric and liberal arts schools. When Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Lafayette and Elizabethtown gave him the nod, he chose the latter. The engineering and mathematical business major liked the personalized research opportunities related to the College’s Summer Scholarship, Creative Arts and Research Projects (SCARP) program, the faculty-student interaction and because ½ûÂþÌìÌà was most generous with scholarships. Naturally adept in math, the rising senior transferred his credits and changed his focus to engineering, mathematical business and business administration. This summer he presented a research project on a self-contained MATLAB course for fellow STEM students at ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ.
