Requests for Year Round Air Conditioning
½ûÂþÌìÌà has a number of different HVAC systems in Residence Halls, Myer, Ober and Royer Residence Halls have window air-conditioning units that are installed during Spring Break and removed during Fall break. These window units do not have HEPPA filters; students who require a HEPPA filter can bring a free standing unit to their room. Requests to have a room with a window AC unit after fall break and before spring break must be made prior to housing selection. This accommodation can only be provided in a limited number of rooms that do not have a building temperature sensor in order to protect the overall efficiency of the cooling and heating system.
Brinser, Schlosser, Schreiber Quadrangle and the Vera Hackman Apartments have HVAC systems that provide either heating or cooling, and are switched from one system to the other twice a year depending on average daily temperatures. These buildings do not have window unit air conditioners. Please inquire in advance if you are applying for an SDLC. Some of these buildings are central air; others have window units.
Founders is the only residential building where the college can provide year round air-conditioning. The units in Founders do not have HEPPA Filters; students who require a HEPPA filter can bring a free standing unit to their room. Students who require year round air conditioning might consider requesting Founders as their preferred residence hall.
