About the Bonner Leader Program
The Corella and Bertram F. Bonner Foundation seeks to improve the lives of individuals and communities by helping meet the basic needs of nutrition and educational opportunity.
Bonner Leaders Improve Lives and Transforms Communities
The Bonner Leader program at ½ûÂþÌìÌà provides student participants with dynamic and meaningful opportunities to develop and expand their commitment to service, leadership qualities, civic engagement, and social justice. Leaders receive a stipend for their weekly service with a regional community organization over the span of four years as an undergraduate student. The program provides participants with training and support as well as the opportunity to transform their campus and surrounding communities and to be transformed, in keeping with the institution’s Educate for Service motto.
*All students may apply for consideration. Federal work-study students or those who bring unique and diverse experiences and perspectives are strongly encouraged to apply.
Benefits:
- Individual advising and mentoring by Director of Center for Community and Civic Engagement and Bonner Program at ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ.
- Receive up to $3,000 annual stipend funded and provided to Leaders by ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ.
- Extensive Bonner Leader program resources and development in the areas of:
- Civic Engagement: exploring and participating intentionally in multiple forms and dimensions of engagement including service, political engagement, social action, and public policy.
- Community Building: creating and sustaining a vibrant community of place, personal relationships, and shared interests.
- Diversity: respecting the many different dimensions of personal and group identities (such as class, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, physical and mental ability) and creating opportunities to dialogue and learn across them.
- International Perspective: developing international and global understanding that enables individuals to participate successfully in an increasingly interconnected world, appreciate and transcend national boundaries.
- Social Justice: understand and advocate for fairness, impartiality, and equity in addressing systemic social and environmental issues.
- Spiritual Exploration: reflect on and explore personal beliefs while respecting the spiritual and ethical practices and values of others.
- Wellness: nurturing the development, resilience, thriving, and sustenance of the whole person and of communities.
Next Steps
- Students enrolling at ½ûÂþÌìÌà in the Fall of 2025 as a member of the class of 2029 are eligible to apply to the Bonner Leader Program.
- Students must apply to Etown by December 1, 2024 to be considered for the Bonner Leader Program.
Only students who have been admitted to Etown for the coming year can complete the Bonner Leader Application. Apply to Etown by December 1, log into your ½ûÂþÌìÌà Application Portal below after you are admitted, and then complete the .
